Sport Life

Curling has often been referred to as “Chess on Ice,” and I wholeheartedly agree with this analogy. From a young age, I was completely hooked on curling and soon realized that I possessed some natural talents for the sport. Having already taken numerous skating lessons, I felt very comfortable gliding across the ice. Curling is a team-based sport that skillfully combines both mental and physical aspects, requiring a unique blend of strategy and agility. To truly succeed in this demanding sport, teamwork is essential, and I have had the valuable opportunity to play all the different curling positions throughout my journey. Since I was 13 years old, I have been proudly a part of the curling family, relishing the wonderful teamwork and deep friendships that I have cultivated over the years. While curling holds a special place in my heart, swimming remains my primary cardiovascular workout. I have consistently dedicated time each week to swim, alongside continuing to pursue swimming lessons to enhance my skills. Currently, I am focused on acquiring life guard skills and improving my overall endurance for greater fitness.

Music Life

Saxophone is undoubtedly my favorite instrument, and I have been fortunate enough to have chosen it at a young age, which has allowed me to cultivate my skills over time. My talented saxophone teacher regularly performs live and has selected many inspiring pieces that challenge and motivate me to practice consistently. Currently, I find immense joy in exploring many types of music, but I particularly enjoy both listening to and playing Jazz pieces, which resonate deeply with my artistic sensibilities.

Personal Life

Despite the challenges posed by Covid, I have been fortunate enough to have the opportunity to travel extensively around the world and witness many of the remarkable experiences and sights that this diverse planet has to offer. In addition to my trips to the United States, I have explored a multitude of countries across Europe, South America and Asia. One of my most memorable adventures was my trip to Eastern Europe with my family, as it brought back fond memories and reminded me of the stunning natural beauty that Vancouver is known for. Lately, I have had the chance to travel independently each summer to attend various summer camps, where I have lived on campus alongside students hailing from all corners of the globe. Each travel experience is a unique journey that I will always hold dear and cherish for years to come.

I am an avid reader of anything that I can get my hands on, whether it's fiction, non-fiction, or even poetry. My earliest memories vividly include hiding under my covers with a flashlight and eagerly waiting until everyone else in the house had fallen sound asleep so that I could continue to indulge in the latest and greatest book that I had been fortunate enough to discover and acquire. Literally, I would read at every possible opportunity that presented itself, and I have often been known to completely forget about everything else around me while I was deeply immersed in the captivating world of a book. This profound passion for reading has naturally led me to write my own book and has encouraged me to actively participate in various writing challenges, further enriching my literary journey.

Last but certainly not least, I take care of my beloved grandmother on the weekends. Since my grandfather passed away, I have found great joy in being able to assist her in any way I can. It is quite hard to imagine the challenging life of an immigrant who possesses limited English skills. Many simple tasks that we often take for granted, such as paying bills, visiting the doctor, and cleaning the house, can become quite daunting for an elderly lady who is living alone and navigating these responsibilities without adequate support.
